Who is the one person that you are most glad you have met?

Over the years, I have been blessed to be able to meet a number of people. I have met musical artists, politicians, actors, and authors. Of all the people, I am glad that I was able to meet an everyday average guy named Chris. I met Chris while working at a fast food restraunt during high school and my freshman year of college.

Why I am glad I met him? As an opposite of me, he had all the qualites I wish I had. He was outgoing, popular, and athletic. I, on the otherhand, was shy, unknown, and clumsy. Yet, we had enough similar interest to become friends.

As we got to know each other, he began to help me experience life. I grew up a traditional Southern Baptist kid. Chris was not. Somehow, I began to break out of my protective shell. My conservative and shallow view of the world was shattered, and my eyes were opened to a view of life that I never knew existed. I learned a lot.

Now I am not so closed minded and open to listening to other points of view. I learned to enjoy life and live each day for the moment and not take it so seriously.

Without knowing him, would I have become the same person I am today? I don't know, but I do know his influence on me is significant. He may not be famous, but he had more of an impact on me than Amy Grant or Steve Forbes would ever have on me.

Eventhough I only knew him a few years, I am glad I met him.
